68W Combat Medic was a large e-Learning development project for the U.S. Army with Tipping Point Solutions. The training was primarily for Soldiers training to become Emergency Medical Technicians, Clinic staff, and Emergency Rescue personnel. The project would include content modules (IMI's) and practical exercises (PE's) at level 2 and level 3 design.
The team used ADDIE and Rapid as the development methodologies. A team of Instructional Designers designed the modules (storyboards) using M.S. Word, a media team created the audio and graphics, and a development team (of which I was one), created the eLearning using Adobe Captivate Classic. The design met most 508 compliance requirements with the exception being modules where the Army had a requirement for completion within a time limit.
The basic idea for this project was to use Captivate with a set of prebuilt template slides. The .js file in Captivate also was customized with additional functions that developers could call when additional features were needed. The media team supplied a Photoshop .psd file and it was imported into Captivate for easy updating of images. For closed captioning .srt files were created.
This project is a perfect example of how to leverage Adobe Captivate using templates and JavaScript and the import and sync features in the media library to update images.
